Palaeontologist Rick Marshall takes Will and Holly into a new world of danger, dinosaurs and big bug-eyed lizard people while trying to find their way back home and, too, save the universe and in doing so saving his reputation. With the dinosaur with brains, brawn and personality and the adventure of scientific advancement and exotic beasts in a far away land, it all adds up to time traveling fun and frolics.

Film Review

I saw this advertised a bit during it's release time, I assumed it was going to be naff, but I was still going to watch it to see if that was the case, from Razzie nominated director Brad Silberling (Casper, City of Angels, Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events). Basically Dr. Rick Marshall (Razzie nominated Will Ferrell) is the paleontologist who has been trying for a long time to prove the theory and existence of time warps, and he has heard there may be a place that it may be possible. So along with Holly Cantrell (Anna Friel), a doctoral student and admirer or his work, and their tour guide Will Stanton (Danny McBride), what starts out as a hoax does actually lead them to what he was looking for. They are transported into a new world, where objects and animals of time, past, present and some future, have been mixed together, and bits and pieces of time are all around, in desert, jungle and caves. While in this time warped world they come across a Neanderthal na…

Charming for special effects and for the construction of tale. For the science to reflect fundamental values and for the game of illusions. For a subtle and innocent art of CGI-era Hollywood and for ecological message. In fact, a nostalgic remember of Utopian golden age. Same characters, same ethics, same atmosphere. A piece of "Tarzan" tradition with special gift to reflect the reality. It is a film important for his apparition's year. The tension of world, the rumors about war, Germany or the ash of illusion are elements of movie's recipes. The new "Land of the Lost" is a technical miracle, fruit of Lucas era but, this artless, childish, nice image of god- monster, beauty, fight and freedom is more profound and lyrical. So, a touching movie and picture of a lost era.

I got this in the $5 bin at Wal-Mart. After falling asleep multiple times while trying to watch it, I've come to the conclusion this is one of the worst movies I've ever seen. Not funny. It does have good special effects in spots that don't save it. There are also some really bad special effects that appear to be a tribute to the original show. Since the acting and scenarios are so unfunny, the Director and writers resorted to lots of boob, crotch, urine and feces jokes. I grew up watching the original campy version on Saturday mornings. This is neither campy or serious. And I've wasted enough of my time writing this for such a bad movie.
